Head Of Reagan Library Talks About The Decline Of The GOP
John Heubusch has spent much of his life in politics—campaign consulting, administrative work, speech writing—pretty much every element of the political process. Now he oversees Ronald Reagan’s presidential library. But his latest project is a series of novels about the Shroud of Turin. I read the first installment in the series, The Shroud Conspiracy: A Thriller, and enjoyed it. So I asked John to sit down across a Skype line to discuss the book and what might be coming next in the series. You can listen to that discussion here.
But before we got into the book itself, I wanted to get a sense of why a political guy would write something like this. Most people with his background would write a memoir of the time they spent in Washington, or, if they’re a little more ambitious, a biography of some great leader of the past. But John departed almost entirely from the world of the Beltway and went to Rome and the Shroud. Why?
